Switches: Drama Queen

Follow-up to Track Of The Week. Good form!

You know that weird thing that iTunes does when it reads a CD incorrectly and gives it the title of another record entirely? Well, apparently, this is ‘I Get Along’ by the Pet Shop Boys, which in terms of providing a reference point for everything this is not, is very helpful. What it is, is corking, faintly ridiculous, posturing rock – full of falsetto woo-woos, over-the-top three-part harmonies and some genuinely terrific couplets (“Load up the trucks, we’ll let the demons come in/Bring all the kids, they won’t know where to begin”) all crammed into a shade over three minutes. There are times when it sounds very much like the Towers Of London, and that’s a compliment. Honest.
