Ex-Concretes frontwoman and sometime Peter Bjorn And John collaborator Victoria Bergsman is back with her first solo album – a perfectly timed return what with her fellow countrymen being so musically proactive lately. Thankfully, Miss Bergsman certainly isn’t letting the side down. The whole record sounds completely natural and mixes traditional folk with eccentric pop melodies with style and ease. In most places the instruments that feature are so stripped down that they’re practically non- existent, allowing her trademark ethereal vocals to shine through. When they do emerge, like on the stunning, string-lead instrumental track ‘Open Field’ they could happily soundtrack one of the more frivolous scenes in Bambi. That’s it, NME’s moving to Sweden.
