The Aliens

Magic Man

The life of Gordon Armstrong – the sometime Lone Pigeon who quit The Beta Band under a cloud of psychiatric problems in ’97 – has often seemed more tragic than magic. So it’s great news that he’s reunited with former Beta bandmates John Maclean and Robin Jones. Sadly, the fruits of their labour – plodding, brass-tinged psych-pop – are hardly out of this world. Sorry Gord.

True, its not the most amazing song at 1st listen but its interesting enough to have me anticipating the album. Dont know if you knoe RM but they have been "reunited" for ages and already have a stunning album out so dont dismiss "the fruits of the labour" with this lazy piece. Think its time that people stopped writing about Gords "problems", theres so much more...and its Anderson anyway.

Lazy indeed, anyone who hasn't heard of the Aliens before will assume from this shite article that this is from their debut album, when in fact they've already released a wicked first album bloody ages ago! This isn't a comeback album from Gordon, all his problems were dredged up when they released that, as a lazy arse NME journo, you should now be hyping up the difficult second album!

Talented honest lads who need not care about the waste of ink in this half arsed review. Great debut album already released and the live shows were great. Also check out - Lady (B-Side - Setting Sun) "truly magic" - Good luck Aliens
