Veni Vidi Vici
Jesus Christ – this really is brilliant. Riding a fantastically shambolic break that is equal parts trip-hop and ‘Bone Machine’-era Tom Waits while boasting a louche vocal so full of snot that all the tissues in the world couldn’t soak it up, it manages to sound at various points like the aforementioned, as well as channeling The Clash, Ennio Morricone and The Wu-Tang Clan in just under half a minute. And the chorus is pretty great, too. And titling their record with the Latin translation of the chorus is even greater. Snake-hipped, insidious and utterly fucking magnificent.
