Coral : Shadows Fall

It's cheeringly odd...

Everyone's raving about The Strokes, argues new Liverpool label Deltasonic, but what about a new young British band to equal them? Strangely enough, they offer up new signings The Coral as potential contenders, six boys under 20 who 'equal' the Strokes by turning in a wistful sea shanty that makes you want to drink some rum, eat a lime, and buy some Dutch silk with your pirated doubloons. It's cheeringly odd and anyone on nodding acquaintance with Gorky's, The Strands or The Doors won't be left totally at sea, but still, a curious sound for such young men to be making. The modern age? It went that way. Victoria Segal
