When Sean Cook was booted out of Spiritualized in the late ’90s it was said

he was let go due to demanding a wage competitive to that of his paperboy’s. But it could have also been due to his dark side. Here, on The Flies’ debut album, he’s free to make gloomy psych-rock that rather brilliantly skulks around like The Velvets on a David Lynch set.
