So you’ve stumbled into Silent Hill on Halloween and find a funfair, but just as you’re buying tickets to the Rocky Horror dodgems you have an acid flashback to that time your Altern8 tape got stuck on repeat and you were too mashed to get up and change it – this is the sound in your head. Making Eighties Matchbox look like Butlins Redcoats (Guy McKnight doing the Macarena, now that would be a trip), everything about The Horrors is unnerving – the demented keyboards, those Nurofen squiggles, the background Cossack cheers – but most of all, the fact that they’re doing all this while still teenagers. Dementia waits in the wings and rubs her hands with glee.
