Album Review: The Morning Benders
Talking Through Tin Cans
Facts about this album:
* The Morning Benders are Tim, Joe, Chris and Julian.
* 'Talking Through Tin Cans' is their debut album.
Album review:
“It’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re at” goes the saying, but The Morning Benders’ debut suggests otherwise: here where they’re from is where they’re at. Hailing from Berkeley, California, residing in a Monkees-style shared house and with a singer who sounds like Beach Boy Mike Love, the trio are their hometown personified – the likes of
‘I Was Wrong’ and ‘Patient Patient’ all smiley, sunshiny guitars, smiley sunshiny organs, smiley, sunshiny harmonies and… well, you get the idea. “I’m getting tired of living like I’m dying while the world is moving on”, they beam obliviously on ‘Waiting For A War’. In the best possible way, this is music detached from reality whose charm lies in its unaffected nature.
