The Rascals

I’ll Give You Sympathy

In a world bereft of Shadow Puppetry, The Rascals would be allowed to grow of their own accord. Instead, narky critics write them off as The Other Band while their fans – who are vocal – defend them to the hilt. But if they don’t want to be dismissed as a 5/10 band, why do they write songs like this pootling reconstitution of old Merseybeat offcuts; songs that are so rampantly average there’ll soon come a time when even the most fervent supporter gives up?

Why are all these reviews just unnecessarily harsh rants covered in magniloquent language? It seems you guys pick the people that absolutely despise their music (as opposed to a more neutral candidate) to review songs/albums

ben, give it a few more listens. i wasnt keen on first hearing it, but its a grower and would get more 7/10 than 5/10.

great song. at least 7 if not more. just mindless twats at NME are trying to slate every song that hasnt got alex turner or the gallagher brothers in it. oh what a lovely world.

i absolutely agreee with timhughes here. NME reviewers have just a certain set of bands they praise in any case; meanwhile the others get kinda 3 or 5 of ten marks...And yes, it is called I'll Give You Sympathy, at least learn to write, stupid reviewers.

LOVE THIS SONG. what is wrong with the reviewers, if they didn't bother to find out what it was called how do we even know if they listened to it?!

Mr. Ben Patashnik is just another narky critic. He apparently hasn't listened neither to Miles Kane's guitar sound, nor to his voice. He's spiting on a rare artist & music genious (and there aren't that many who can make a difference today)Miles Kane is one of the very few artists who will have a much deserved career.sophie

I Think this is a really cool song , and yes , we fans do 'defend them to the hilt' Just because alex is in the last shadow puppets , it does not mean that the rascals are just the other band etc , they make their OWN music , i reakon its at least a 7/10 , C'MON !!!!!

i like a lot the song, but i don't know if it's good music or not , and i supose Ben Patashnik know. and i don't care what other people say, i listen the music that i like, not the one that is good
