The Sounds

Painted By Numbers

The Sounds
Ah, jeez, it’s another piece of finery from the glacial, electronically precise Swedish power-poppers’ debut album ‘Dying To Say This To You’. ‘Painted By Numbers’ is exactly the type of tune you’d imagine Stevie Nicks putting on the car stereo as she snorted a fat line of coke off the steering wheel of her 1984 Cadillac. The sleek edges, cut-glass keyboards and Maja Ivarsson’s body-building vocals make us feel strangely aroused. A piece of post-coital pop precision that’s a little bit like the feeling you get after you’ve wolfed down a can of Tizer in one. We’re still giddy from the fizz.
