Timbaland (feat One Republic)

Apologise

More dead-eyed perfection from Timothy Mosley, this time making ‘Apologise’ sound like his own, despite the fact it features US bore-rockers One Republic on vocals. The syncopated beats, double-jointed rhythm and the sense of walking into a vast, glass-fronted room remain. But the jaded feel that permeates the whole of ‘Shock Value’ is there too. “I’m holding on your rope/Got me 10 feet off the ground” bellows the singer. About as captivating as the Liberal Democrats search for a new leader.

The waves of American over-produced (at least in terms of creative control) hiphip/rock rubbish rears its head again.

They say that "Waiting For Godot" is the play where "nothing happens, twice". Well this is the record where nothing happens for over 3 minutes. Dead.

As a side note - the video shows the band playing instruments, yet you hear none of these on the track, apart from Timbaland's rubbish "beats", the singers whining and a little piano. Double death!

I love the beat of this song! Yet, a little disappointed that Timbaland didn't sing much. The background vocals he provided didn't seem like enough.

He is usually the guy that is known to help singers get established. He did that for Nelly Furtado. Yet, in "Promiscuous" he sang a lot more...
Both ways I'm glad he's worked with One Republic on this one.
