One Last Peep: Mitchell And Webb Answer The Big Questions About The Final Ever Series Of Peep Show

After 12 years, nine seasons and at least one barbecued dog, Mark Corrigan and Jeremy Usborne’s exploits as TV’s greatest losers in the mighty Peep Show are coming to an end. Time for the show’s stars – David Mitchell and Robert Webb – to answer some big questions about El Dude Brothers’ last stand.

Why’s it finishing?

“Because it’s a show about young men and we’re not young men now,” says Mitchell. “It’s the ageing process rather than the commissioner not wanting it, which is how we thought it would end.”

Who’s in the final series?

Classic characters including Mark’s sometime-boss Johnson, ex-wife Sophie and on-off girlfriend Dobby will return. Jez, meanwhile, starts episode one bunking in with cuddly crack fan Super Hans. “I do the last scene in an office, with a character we’ve never seen before,” says Webb, mysteriously. Perhaps it’ll be Mark’s Jeremy-replacement flatmate, played by Tim Key.

Are Mark and Jez still TV’s most likeable bastards?

Peep Show’s genius lies in the fact that however horrible Mark and Jeremy are, they’re still loveable. “They’re a real couple of shits,” says Webb. “The job is to play them in a way that makes people want to carry on watching them.” Plus, says Mitchell, “Their friendship is based on the fact they despise each other. They derive a lot of comfort from looking at the other one and saying, ‘Whatever’s wrong with my life, I’m not as bad as him.’”

When it ends, will Mark and Jeremy be gone forever?

“I think one day we might go and see what Mark and Jeremy are doing in their old age,” says David Mitchell.

Peep Show starts on Wednesday Nov 11 at 10pm on Channel 4.
