Spice Girls get all R&B on our asses...
The [a]Spice Girls[/a], who enjoyed minor success with a couple of singles in the ’90s, are back for another stab at the charts – and this time is looks like they might make it.
You may recognise some of the members of this band. [a]Emma Bunton[/a] was the guest vocalist on [a]Tin Tin Out[/a]’s ‘What I Am’, while Melanie Brown is best known for her work with Missy Elliott. While she shuns publicity, Victoria is actually married to a Manchester United footballer called David Beckham, which just leaves Melanie Chisholm, who most importantly invented punk rock with the hugely influential single ‘Goin’ Down’.
While they’ve taken loads of chances with this release – unknown producer Rodney Jerkins has worked on both tracks, they’ve chosen a deeply unfashionable R&B sound, and record label Virgin doesn’t really have the financial means to promote the release as well as you might hope – let’s keep our fingers crossed. Hopefully the [a]Spice Girls[/a] will get a few plays on The Box, and if Woolworths decide to stock the single then a Top 40 chart placing should follow.
Watch this lot – they’re going to be big.
