Dickson's no Sam Cooke but this still works...
Sean Dickson, prolific owner of multiple pop pseudonyms and former Soup Dragon, bathes in celestial redemption in this waltz-time sparkle of synthetic heavenly choirs, quavering vocals and second-hand soulman phrases:
“A change is gonna come, everything’s going to be alright”. Dickson’s no Sam Cooke but this still works, in a Bobby Gillespie kinda way, held together by sincere intent more than polished technique. There’s a warped tech-stomp mix too, which pretty resoundingly ruins the original tune but carts it off towards psychedelic new terrain. Not wholly successful, then, but commendably ambitious.
