The kind of music that you could pogo to all night and not hate yourself in the morning.
Hardcore, ’99-style, from the Big Rotten Apple. [a]Indecision[/a] boast one of the finest titles in recent years, but the EP itself
pretty fucking horrible, sounding like the worst medievalist instincts of Iron Maiden mixed with revolting [a]Pantera[/a]-styled vocals. Straight-edged angst, as frightening and effective as a shook-up can of Pepsi.
Far more fun is Capdown… Is there a more exciting title than ‘Time For Change’? Do those three words not sum up all the greatest rock’n’roll of all time?
Unusually for an NY hardcore outfit, Capdown take legendary DC Rasta-core kru Bad Brains as their starting point, a stinking stew of thrash-punk attack, spiny, rusty riffage and gymnastic vocals. The tight-assed ska of ‘Stand My Ground’
thankfully more Fishbone than Mighty Mighty
crammed full of idiosyncratic touches and an acrid, sickening sense of humour, the kind of music that you could pogo to all night and not hate yourself in the morning.
