Cooper Temple Clause : Warfare EP

If the test of any great ‘bad attitude’ rock band is whether they can make appropriate use of military hardware in a song title (see Primal Scream’s ‘Stuka’), then The CT Clause have passed. Lead track from the Reading-spawned strobe rock maniacs’ second EP is titled ‘Panzer Attack’, and it pretty much does what it says; marching to a sick, banging techno beat while filthy MC5 guitars detonate and singer Ben Gautrey hollers like Motörhead’s Lemmy with his nodules on fire. Awesome, visceral and kind of lobotomised all at once, ‘Panzer Attack’ doesn’t have the Trail Of Dead-meets-Sabbath grandeur of some of the tracks on their debut ‘Hardware EP’, but it’s still deadly effective.
