This is warm, playful, surprisingly lovely stuff.
Despite having all their equipment and most of their forthcoming debut album stolen earlier this year, Wauvenfold’s Tom Hill and Noel Murphy are clearly neither down nor out. Fresh from remixing the Super Furry Animals, the progtronica duo’s second quartet of mischievous twitch’n’glitch sounds vital and sparky. The digital scuttlebeats tangle and tumble with chaotic abandon
but a strong seam of melody
also runs through proceedings, cleverly disguised as
extraneous gurgles and foghorn blurts. This is warm, playful, surprisingly lovely stuff. And
the fabulously pointless, high-tech, transparent sleeve is also
a firm reminder to back up your work on floppy disk.
