Inspiring indeed to see a band so young with their eyes so wide open
Next month, Kinesis support the [a]Manic Street Preachers[/a]. It’ll be their ideological, if not musical nirvana. Here’s a gang of teenagers who’ve kicked hard to get out of Bolton, despising the soullessness and dead-end mentality of small town life. In their rhetoric at least, they make their Welsh forefathers look as old and impotent as they really have become.
‘Billboard Beauty’ is a brutal savaging of the perfume-ad idea of beauty, cunningly disguised as a near-perfect three-minute sugar-coated pop song. On first listen you’ll think of Feeder‘s ‘Buck Rogers’, but don’t let that put you off, there’s an anarchic soul lurking beneath the infectious guitars. Inspiring indeed to see a band so young with their eyes so wide open.
