Hidden Cameras : Ban Marriage

You wouldn’t want them on your doorstep...

More heinous overstaffing in indiedom, with a dozen Canadians playing what they accurately call “Gay church folk music”. You couldn’t have made this up a year ago, but here are The Hidden Cameras, a divine combination of Belle And Sebastian’s winsomeness and The Polyphonic Spree’s mob-handed euphoria. ‘Ban Marriage’ comprises much strumming, stomping and implied theory about the liberating and communal aspects of happy-clappy alt-pop, while B-side ‘Fear Of ’Zine Failure’ conflates indie and Christian dogma and is even better. You wouldn’t want them on your doorstep, though.
