The Enemy

The Enemy

Tom Clarke may never find himself being linked to The Courteeners’ MySpace, but The Enemy’s trackie-top rock has touched a nerve with a generation who’ve grown up to find Johnny Rotten’s prophecy “Your future dream is a shopping scheme” has become a reality. No mythical angry mob here, however. Instead, Tom sighs “Half the kids that aren’t pushing prams are now pushing pills to boys and girls that are half their age”. The arrangement is pure U2. Not quite the thrill-ride that would be ‘That’s Entertainment’ meets ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’, but in the same fairground.
