Ween
Stay Forever (Elektra)
Nobody likes a smartarse. And consequently no-one likes Ween either, as the terribly clever Dean and Gene are consummate pasticheurs of music to an extent that's almost Zappa-like in its vaguely concealed contempt for
the medium. There's dicking around on the B-sides, but 'Stay Forever', however, represents a happy departure for the duo from their traditional spot in Wanker's Corner - a country song in the hand-on-heart sense, about missing someone, and there's pedal steel guitar on it too. It's actually very good. It's not even alt-country.
It's just alt-Ween.
