What Light

Wilco principal Jeff Tweedy is a man who’s battled alcoholism, drug addiction and inter-band meltdown only to emerge happy, stable and contented. Which is great news for him, but may explain why ‘What Light’ is such insubstantial guff. So pianos tinkle and slide guitars slide and it’s all perfectly nice, but from the man who invented alt.country with Uncle Tupelo then made 2002’s immense ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ album, you expect more than nice. Like a bit of edge, maybe.
