Like a billiard ball that runs a merchant-banking firm, Wild Beasts are difficult to even imagine. The concept – a feral Dame Edna Everage fronting Dexys – tests the already capacious limits of the box marked Great British Eccentrics. Yet with a bit of work, this wonky slice of Pimm’s-marinated castrato-pop nuzzles its way towards your heart, shrieking and gurgling alternately. A very bewildering beast.
