Georgia Melodians - Red Hot Henry Brown video

This orchestra is, despite its undeniable skill, hardly known. It was a band from Savannah, Georgia, formed around 1923, which enjoyed a certain popularity in the New York area during the 1924 season. It is said that this band, managed by no-one less than Paul Specht, broke up towards the end of 1924. Nevertheless, records were still issued under this denomination in 1925 and 1926. It is not clear which musicians played on those recordings, including the present one, made for Edison on July 28th, 1925. The vocalist remained uncredited (some sources mention Vernon Dalhart as the band vocalist).
