The weirdest band names around...
Hi there.
My name’s Conor and for the past two weeks I’ve been assistant to the gig-guide editor here at NME towers.
It’s essentially a data-entry role in the coolest office in the world, collating concerts from around the country into the week’s biggest gig guide.
There are few data entry jobs, however, that provide the amount of amusement to be had here. The source of my mirth? Why, the band names I come across…
Here are my top 5 from this week, in a convenient Top Of The Pops-esque countdown…

Is this the most controversial video EVER?
Electro duo Justice’s new video to ‘Stress’ has caused a media storm in their native country, France. Shot by Romain-Gavras the video follows eight teen-thugs as they rampage through the city – assaulting a young woman on the Metro, pulverising a busker’s guitar, mugging an old lady, torching a car, beating a man till he’s sick…

Oasis album artwork: what do you think?
So here it is, the artwork for Oasis' seventh studio album 'Dig Out Your Soul', released October 6.

Reactions amongst NME.COM users so far have been mixed, with judgements ranging from "absolute shite" to "a cross between The Beatles and Monty Python", although no-one's suggested – yet – that it ranks alongside the worst album covers of all time.
What do you reckon?

Lovebox Weekender: free MP3 mix tape
Always one of the most debauched weekends in the festival calendar, Lovebox London Weekender resumes its annual quest to permanently deplete the capital's serotonin levels on July 19-20 at Victoria Park.
There are plenty of big names on show - Goldfrapp, Jack Penate, The Flaming Lips, plus a headline set from organisers Groove Armada - but what about the smaller bands? With eight stages to explore, it's easy to plunge into a funk of indecision - which is why we've put together this run-down of must-see bands, plus a free track from each for you to download and whack on your iPod. How bleeding modern. Enjoy!

New Babyshambles stuff
This is a new 'Shambles track, 'Maybelline', should see it on the next album when they get round to knocking it up.

Dirty Pretty Things hit the NME office
Did you hear Dirty Pretty Things playing live on NME Radio an hour or so ago?
No? Well, you really must pay more attention.
Anyway, Carl seemed fairly chipper, if a touch pale – he's recovering well after suffering from acute pancreatitis recently, and was happy to sign the cover of the first Libs album for Chief Sub-Editor Sarah. Good to see you on the mend fella.
Here are the guys playing their session:

NME Radio launch: 17 hours to go
Just popped down to the basement of NME towers, where the NME Radio studio is a hive of nervous energy in anticipation of tomorrow morning's (Tuesday June 24) big launch.

Send a get-well-soon message to Carl Barat
As you probably read last week on NME.COM, Mr. Carlos Barat of Dirty Pretty Things is unfortunately in hospital after suffering from acute pancreatitis.

'Chinese Democracy': Oh dear
Some of the newly-leaked tracks from Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' have just gone on the office stereo, prompting gales of derisive laughter - particularly over the title track, of which we heard a 90 second snippet.
