Sia says she’s releasing a new album and a feature-length musical in 2019

The pop star has given fans an update on what they can look forward to next year

Sia has given fans an update on her plans for 2019, telling one Twitter follower she will release a new album and a feature-length musical next year.

On Christmas Day, one fan reached out to the star on Twitter seeking information on her plans. “Please answer me love,” they wrote. “When are we getting new music (like 2019 or later).

The singer and hit writer replied, saying: “Next year I’m releasing an album and a feature length musical I wrote and directed. Lots of fun things to come!”

Aside from 2017’s holiday album ‘Everyday Is Christmas’, Sia hasn’t released a record since 2016’s ‘This Is Acting’. In a four-star review, NME wrote: “‘This Is Acting’ features tracks she wrote for A-listers including Adele, Beyoncé, and Rihanna but kept for herself after they were rejected. It’s an album filled with scraps, then – but they’re scraps that would be snapped up by most pop stars in a second.”

This year has seen the pop star team up with Diplo and Labrinth in supergroup LSD, work with Dolly Parton on ‘Here I Am’, which featured on the Dumplin’ soundtrack, and release a standalone single called ‘I’m Still Here’. She also contributed original songs to the soundtrack of Vox Lux, in which Natalie Portman’s Celeste becomes a pop star after singing at a memorial service for a national tragedy.

Earlier this year, Sia claimed she got a nasty bout of “crazy diarrhoea” after meeting Donald Trump on a 2015 episode of Saturday Night Live. Trump was hosting the show that night while she was the musical guest.

She said she met the future President in a hallway backstage and he asked her to take a photo with him. Actually, do you mind if we don’t? I have a lot of queer and Mexican fans, and I don’t want them to think that I support your views,” she recalls telling him. “Oh, no problem,” Trump replied, according to Sia, “Then don’t.”

She added she thanked him for understanding, but “couldn’t stop her body from physically reacting to Trump after they parted ways.”
