“My mantra is ‘Yes'” – Jenny Lewis talks the chances of a Rilo Kiley reunion

Could it happen?

Jenny Lewis has said that she’s open to the idea of a Rilo Kiley reunion in the near future.

The acclaimed alt-rock band released five studio albums over their 13 year career, with the last, ‘Under The Blacklight’, in 2007. Following a hiatus, the band announced their split back in 2011. Band members have since embarked on a number of solo and further musical ventures, with guitarist Blake Sennett joining Lewis on stage at Coachella 2014 for a performance of Rilo Kiley’s ‘Portion For Foxes’.

Now with the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut EP ‘The Initial Friend’ approaching later this year, it looks like a full band reunion is possible in the not-too-distant future.

Asked by NME if she’d be interested in reforming the band, Lewis replied: “Sure! I did a Postal Service reunion tour a couple of years ago, so I’m open to anything these days. My mantra is ‘Yes’.”

Speaking of their split back in 2011, Sennet said: “I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed, and things I don’t really want to submit myself to.

“I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, ‘I’m not going to put myself in that position again,’ so I said, ‘Fuck that, I can’t do this anymore.’”

Lewis also spoke to NME about the fallout of the allegations made collaborator against Ryan Adams, and how it has “opened a dialogue about power dynamics in music”.

Jenny Lewis releases new album ‘On The Line’ on Friday March 22.

In a five-star review, NME concluded: “‘On the Line’ toes many tightropes. Hedonism is liable to osmose its way into escapism at any cost. Comic relief is a close bedfellow of total desperation; the darkest, bleakest moments in life can often arrive coupled with a strange kind of laughter. On her fourth solo record, Jenny Lewis skewers all of these tensions with astonishing ease. It’s up there with her greatest work to date.”
