Coldplay’s Chris Martin files restraining order against stalker who thinks she is dating him

He is said to be "increasingly worried" by the stalker

Coldplay singer Chris Martin has reportedly filed a restraining order against a female stalker who thinks she is dating the singer.

The frontman’s stalker is said to believe that she is in a relationship with him and has been following the singer for “quite some time.”

As The Blast reports, the woman has been spotted at Martin’s US home on multiple occasions and is alleged to have “placed a package” inside the gate of his home.

Now, Martin is believed to have filed a restraining order after the woman refused to listen to police who warned her to stay away from the Grammy-winning star.

He is said to have become “increasingly worried” by the stalker and says the letters from the woman make references to his children – daughter Apple and son Moses – alongside frequent references to their “relationship” and death.

In filing for the restraining order, he says that the woman is a “complete stranger” and has reportedly supplied a “supporting declaration” from his security guard alongside documents that outline the woman’s “extensive criminal past.”

While Coldplay aren’t touring at the moment, the band returned last year under the name Los Unidades to release a track as part of the ‘Global Citizen EP 1’ charity record, spearheaded by Martin. ‘E-Lo’ features Pharrell Williams and Jozzy.

It came after the band’s close friend Matt Whitehouse previously said that fans can expect a new album in 2019.

Whitehouse, who directed the Coldplay documentary ‘A Head Full of Dreams’, told NME: “I’ve heard a few things and filmed a few bits of them talking about it, but I don’t think I’m allowed to share anything. It’s interesting.

“They’ve been such a successful band that the narrative that gets portrayed of them in the press is ‘Oh, they must be very middle of the road. Whether you love the band or not, each album is an experimentation and markedly different from the last one. Just like a band like Radiohead. They haven’t written a ‘Kid A’ yet where their entire fanbase goes ‘What the fuck is this?’, but I feel like if you play the first one then the most recent, it’s not a foregone conclusion.

“They always want to be challenging themselves and surprising other people – that’s why they work with people like Brian Eno. In that sense, I’m sure whatever they do next will surprise people.”
