Pamela Anderson claims that Julian Assange’s arrest is “UK’s diversion from idiot Brexit bullshit”

"WE WILL RISE"

Pamela Anderson has spoken out again to defend Julian Assange following the WikiLeaks founder’s arrest in London today (April 11).

This morning saw Assange arrested by plain clothes police officers and dragged away from the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The embassy is where he’s claimed refuge for the last seven years to avoid extradition to Sweden over a sexual assault case that has since been dropped.

Assange, however, was today found guilty of failing to surrender to the court at Westminster Magistrate’s Court while facing US federal conspiracy charges related to one of the largest ever leaks of government secrets.

After previously going on record to defend her friendship with Assange, former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson has now claimed that his arrest today was a conspiracy to distract from the UK government’s handling of Brexit, which has resulted in a potential delay until October 31.

“I am in shock,” she wrote on Twitter. “I couldn’t hear clearly what he said? He looks very bad. How could you Equador ? (Because he exposed you). How could you UK? Of course – you are America’s bitch and you need a diversion from your idiotic Brexit bullshit.”

She continued: “And the USA ? This toxic coward of a President. He needs to rally his base? You are selfish and cruel. You have taken the entire world backwards. You are devils and liars and thieves. And you will ROTT and WE WILL RISE.”

Defending Assange back in 2017, Anderson said: “Julian is trying to free the world by educating it. It is a romantic struggle — I love him for this.

“I understand that our ‘affair’ and the curiosity surrounding that might bring some attention to his situation. That’s fine, but I’d rather not go into private details. Let’s just say everyone deserves love.”

Describing her relationship with Assange as “challenging” due to the circumstances of his exile in the embassy, Anderson continued: “We talk about the world. He’s a very good teacher. Julian is one of my favourite people. He is a refugee. He might be the most famous refugee of our time— famous for being persecuted.

“I’m very concerned about his well-being and safety,” Anderson said. “He’s a good person who cares about the world. He is a kind and deeply empathetic person. He is funny, sensitive, romantic, surprisingly resourceful. He’s a good man.”

Assange has described Anderson as “an attractive person with an attractive personality”, adding: “She’s no idiot at all. Psychologically she’s very savvy.”

In 2017, Anderson described Theresa May as “the worst Prime Minister in living memory“.

Assange’s arrest was made possible today following Ecuador’s president withdrawal of his asylum after Assange allegedly committed repeated violations of international conventions. WikiLeaks have argued however that this was “in violation of international law”.

“This man is a son, a father, a brother,” they wrote. “He has won dozens of journalism awards. He’s been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize every year since 2010. Powerful actors, including CIA, are engaged in a sophisticated effort to dehumanise, delegitimize and imprison him.”

Today saw Assange plead “not guilty” to the 2012 charge of failing to surrender to the court. For the US charges, he will appear in court via video link on 2 May on that matter.
