Download 2012 – How Was It For You?

And so the tenth anniversary of Download Festival 2012 has come to a close. It was all a bit shaky to start, with Friday being a mud bath and delaying some bands’ sets and completely cancelling others. But that didn’t stop the Donington bash from putting on three rather fantastic headline acts and quite a few unexpected twists.

Friday’s most surprising moment was seeing Chase And Status draw one of the biggest crowds of the weekend – not that they don’t deserve a huge flock of fans at a festival, but with the slew of ‘anti-Chase And Status at Download’ Facebook groups popping up in the lead-up to the weekend, we were half-expecting there to be a mini uproar. But the circle pits spoke for themselves – looks like an act like theirs can fit in at a rock/metal festival.

Metallica brought ‘The Black Album’ to the Jim Marshall Stage on Saturday night, while Steel Panther shocked the crowd, bringing Corey Taylor on stage to join them for set-closer ‘Death To All But Metal’ – watch them discuss the collab below:

And if you made it over to catch Black Veil Brides on the Jim Marshall Stage, you might have seen Andy Biersack mooning the crowd.

Why? A punter threw something at them. Watch a video interview with BVB below, where they chat about that, as well as what we can expect from their next album. (Hint: they reveal a big spoiler!)

If you stuck around til Sunday night, Black Sabbath reunited to close out the weekend – you can read a full report of their set here. But before we went to catch Ozzy and co. live, we had a chat with Chris Cornell about Soundgarden’s reunion and the progress on their new record. Check it out right here:
