So here it is then, the full Reading And Leeds festival line-up 2011. Find out who’s playing where after the jump and let us know your thoughts on the line-up below.
Headlining the Bank Holiday bash on August 26 – 28 will be My Chemical Romance, The Strokes / Pulp and Muse.
MCR make a long-anticipated return after their 2006 showing, which saw them battle a torrent of plastic bottles as they ripped through much of ‘The Black Parade’. “This song is called thanks for all the bottles” Gerard famously declared, “thanks for all the piss, thanks for all the golf balls, thanks for all the apples and thanks for all the sticky shit.”
The Strokes, meanwhile, are no strangers to the weekend – they played in both 2001 and 2002 and in fact had to be moved out of a tent and onto the main stage in ’01, such was the mania for the band at the time.
While they top the bill in Reading, Pulp will go on last in Leeds. Muse will no doubt bring something intergalactic to Sunday night in Reading (Saturday in Leeds). You may or may not see this lot there.
Here Muse talk about their love for the festival, and how a weekend there in the ’90s encouraged them to form a band.
And Melvin Benn discusses why he booked Muse, MCR and The Strokes, plus talks about his love for Elbow and Beady Eye and reveals which band has given the site’s safety barriers the most cause for concern. He also reveals where to get your tickets without falling victim of tout twats.
