11 Of The Funniest US ‘Lip Sync Battle’ Performances So Far

If you enjoy prancing around in your underwear using a deodorant can as a microphone, you might want to cancel your Friday night plans.

Lip Sync Battle UK, based on the phenomenally successful US show of the same name, sees celebrities miming to famous songs. Essentially, it’s big budget famous people karaoke – but with the mics turned off.

The format was devised by The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant, star of the US adaptation of The Office John Krasinski and Krasinski’s wife and actress, Emily Blunt. Krasinski brought the idea to talk show host Jimmy Fallon, who incorporated it into his show, The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon, Merchant and Krasinski then decided to pitch the format as a full show and it was picked up by reality TV channel Spike. It’s been a smash hit ever since it’s premiere in the US and is now set to come to the UK with a whole host of British celebrities agreeing to take part.

Lip Sync Battle UK will hit screens on Channel 5 tomorrow evening (8th), hosted by Professor Green and former Spice Girl, Mel B. Comedians Johnny Vegas, Jason Manford, Vic Reeves and Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon are all set to feature.

To get you in the mood, here are some of the finest performances from the US version.
