Blade Runner In Watercolour

Being a tragic Blade Runner nerd – yes, I’m the sucker who actually bought the Deckard whisky glass – I was always going be taken with a tribute to the film as detailed and painstaking as this.

Swedish artist Anders Ramsell has recreated an early 13-minute sequence from Ridley Scott’s dystopian film by animating 3,385 images drawn using watercolour pencils. The effect is kind of mesmerising, and leaves you marvelling – in a good way – that there are people in the world willing to put this much work into hymning the things they love.

Ramsell intends to animate the entire film in this manner, fully aware that it will take up years of his life. Respect.
