A double dose of exclusive joy to kick start the week…
Chapel Club – ‘Five Trees (Horrors Remix)’
London gloom-rockers and NME Radio favourites Chapel Club have been holed up in the studio for the past few weeks with producer Paul Epworth, and release the first track from the sessions, ‘Five Trees’ on May 31st. Beginning with a monumental pile of noise that subsides into pulsing bass lines and Lewis Bowman’s maudline croon, it’s a good sign of things to come when they finally release their debut album. Pretty Horrors-esque stuff, which is probably what inspired the latter to provide this remix, although their take is decidedly more robotic. The band play Great Escape in May before heading off round the country on their own headline tour.
The Hundred In The Hands
The Hundred In The Hands have won over more people than Nick Clegg since we last featured them (download their first single ‘Dressed In Dresden’ on this post from last April) and are now back with a new EP, ‘This Desert’, on Warp on May 17th. This exclusive track sees them as spectrally disco as ever. They call it “summertime gothic” and they’re not far off. They’re also playing the Warp Camden Crawl party on May 1st with Rustie, at which the first 50 people will bag themselves a free Warp compilation CD.
