“Most of my heroes still don’t appear on no stamp,” Public Enemy once famously bemoaned. Maybe Chuck D and Flava Flav should consider relocating to Stockholm or renting a cosy Gothenburg cottage for a while: those Swedes seem to have the right idea. Next year, Postnord – the postal company run by the Danish and Swedish governments – will start issuing postage stamps featuring five of Sweden’s current biggest music exports: Robyn, First Aid Kit, Avicii, Seinabo Sey and Max Martin. Check them out and finger’s crossed the idea of adorning post with indie scrappers spreads to the UK’s Royal Mail. I mean, what correspondence wouldn’t be made better by Fat White Family’s gurning faces or Harry from Peace’s delinquent grin staring at you from the top right hand corner?
