Clint Eastwood’s recent comments about Donald Trump and the “pussy generation” are peak old-man-shouts-at-cloud. The 86-year-old actor and director emerged as a defender of the divisive US presidential hopeful in a recent interview with Esquire, telling people that they should “just fucking get over it” when the Republican presidential candidate makes racist comments.
“Everybody’s going, ‘Oh, well, that’s racist’,” he said, “and they’re making a big hoodoo out of it”. Then he rounded on the USA’s “pussy generation”, adding that when he was a boy, these things were much simpler: “We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist”. A lot has changed, though, since Clint grew up – in the actual 1930s – as these music, film and entertainment figures are only too happy to remind him.
Grey’s Anatomy actor Jason Winston George told it straight:
When I was growing up we didn't call it "racist"
We called it being a rich white male#MissStrongSilentClint

Warcraft director Duncan Jones – David Bowie’s son – was also not impressed:
Always assumed these were just westerns, not Clint's policy positions… pic.twitter.com/coKanOyhwx

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea said it best:

David Schneider, meanwhile, has been reimagining Clint’s past films:
DIRTY HARRY: THE CLINT EASTWOOD CUT
Dirty Harry is asked to catch a serial killer.
Harry says the victims should just “get over it”

And these stand-up comedians are making jokes about the whole thing:
I'll hand it to Clint Eastwood PUSSSY GENERATION would look great on a t shirt.

Since we're not being PC, I really won't care if Clint Eastwood dies.

Black Books and Father Ted writer Graham Linehan is too:
NURSE? We need a FUCKING NURSE over here! https://t.co/RiQDKudzWI

Whereas actor Harry Cook pointed out some home truths:
Clint Eastwood said when he grew up they didn't call things "racist".
When he grew up schools were also still segregated.#idiot

And Sleaford Mods, as always, have provided us with a solid final word:
I'd slap Clint Eastwood def. Wanker.
