On October 21 2003 Steven Paul “Elliott” Smith died from two stab wounds to the chest.
A man ravaged by bouts of depression, on-and-off drugs and alcohol abuse – and confounded by the international stardom he was propelled to following the release of his Oscar-nominated song ‘Miss Misery’ – he took his own life, reportedly after an argument with his girlfriend.
This month marks the 13th anniversary of one of the most inspiring and prolific singer songwriters out of modern America. A sensitive soul too fragile for this world. RIP Elliott. XO.
