It’s not often you get to feel like a giddy kid anymore, but a couple of weeks ago I received an email that made my fingers tremble with excitement: the new album by none other than Morrissey, making his grand return after half-a-decade of inactivity with ‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business’. My review of the LP will be in NME magazine soon, but for now, let me just say it’s a stunning album: a grand return for form, and an album which, like 2004’s hiatus-ending ‘You Are The Quarry’, proves that no amount of time in the wilderness can dull Steven Patrick’s wit, wisdom or wonder.
And I’m excited, too, because after a fortnight of keeping the secret of how it sounds all to myself, it’s time to share it with the world. Here is the UK stream for ‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business’, Morrissey’s 10th studio album, set for release on July 15. Recorded in France and produced by Joe Chiccarelli, it’s up there with his finest solo work. Click below to listen – and may it bring you as much joy as it did me.
