Festival Style Report: Cat Footwear, Come Rain Or Shine…

Fed up of boring, blister-inducing wellies sapping the style out of your festival season? Cat Footwear’s Spring / Summer ‘15 range offers an array of boots that are comfortable, durable and are a staple of the workwear trend, not sacrificing even an inch of style. What’s more, the range can be adapted to fit a whole host of looks, meaning wherever you go, you can look good in footwear that will last for festival after festival after festival.

Festival Look 1: Layering

Heading to Glastonbury or Bestival this year? It’s wise to dress in layers for weather that can turn as quickly as rumours of a Kanye secret set – think slogan sweatshirts, denim shorts and leggings for the ladies. Being prepared for all eventualities needn’t be boring, though. Add some sparkle to your cosy outfit with glittery socks or bright prints and team with Cat Footwear’s chic black-on-black printed option from the Walala x Cat collaboration line all available at ASOS.

If you’d rather let your shoes make you stand out from the crowd, look no further than a pair of these Colorado Burnish Brights in sparkling gold to give your outfit that extra statement look.

Guys stay ready for all weather by pairing jeans, thick socks and hoodies with denim shirts and wax jackets. There’ll be no need to run for cover during Muse’s epic set, and the slick Founder boots in espresso or the Colorado boots in black will complement your outfit perfectly, so you stay both stylish and weather-proof.

Festival Look 2: International

If you’re lucky enough to head further afield this summer to the likes of Coachella, Primavera or Austin City Limits, you won’t want several pairs of shoes taking up precious space in your suitcase. Take one pair of Cat boots and you’ll be golden.

How about the Colorado in black for the girls, teamed with statement tie-dye shorts and fringed suede. Or Colorado in simple honey for the boys – they’ll go with absolutely any summer outfit and hide any dust perfectly while offsetting your (hopefully) newly bronzed tan.

Cut-off denim shorts or sundresses for the ladies will let your pins make the most of the sun, too, while men can keep cool in rolled up jeans or denim cut offs. Add a light, summery shirt, pair of statement sunglasses and hip cap and you’re all good to soak up some rays while dancing yourself silly to The Strokes, Florence & The Machine, Disclosure and more.

The Ridge Walala boots in beet red are bound to make you stand out a little from the crowd. This design is a collaboration between CAT and French artist Camille Walala, who known for her eye-catching digital prints. We love the black and white counterpart too, shown here which is a perfect mix of super chic whilst remaining fun and versatile.

Men can look classic but cool and ready for anything in a pair of the super lightweight Highbury boots, shown in the centre below. Or Sequoia 6” in dark beige, shown below left, which will keep you looking stylish in any terrain.

Festival Look 3: Boutique

Everyone knows that boutique festivals like London-based one-dayer Visions, Field Day or Live At Leeds have an extra level of cool to them, bringing together all the hottest new bands and idolized, established alternative acts. This year, you can catch the likes of Fat White Family, Hinds, Diiv, Swim Deep and heaps more at boutique festivals across the country – all bands with a unique but relaxed sense of style.

Keep your outfit natural and comfortable too, but don’t be afraid to add your own twist to make your look individual.

Toughen up dark, printed dresses or turned-up jeans with a pair of Colorados in honey or their print-adorned counterparts, the Colorado Walala, while the Colorado in Cloud will give an even edgier, grungier finish.

Boys, swap the boat shoes and high tops for a pair of Oatman in dark brown or the Colorado boots in royal brown and feel free to race around city or parks looking great and without the danger of getting your feet wet or muddy. Don’t forget to throw on your favourite band t-shirt, too, to make your allegiances at the festival clear.

Here at NME, we love the cloud Colorado so much we took a couple of pairs of them with us to SXSW earlier this year. This is us styling them out them in the Live Musical Capital of the World itself, our beloved Austin.

Following our awesome Festival Style blog, the guys over at Cat Footwear are generously giving one lucky girl and one lucky guy three pairs of boots EACH! As if that wasn’t enough, they’re throwing in a digital camera for each winner too! Just click here to enter: www.nme.com/win.
