1Hervana

Toronto’s premiere Nirvana tribute act are, of course, fronted by ‘Skirt Cobain’. Nirvana’s deep commitment to women’s issues is partly behind Hervana’s inception. “From their performances at pro-choice benefit concerts to Kurt’s appearance on MTV’s Headbangers Ball in a satin ballgown, they were always willing to shake up rock’s macho leanings,” say the group.
2The She Street Band

The She Street Band are the latest lady-rock tribute band on the block. They formed in the summer of 2016, after seeing the Boss play Wembley Stadium. “Bruce is all about inclusiveness and fighting the good fight. If we can help to spread his message and provide a space to promote positive, inclusive deeds, we are doing the best tribute we possibly could for him!” says bassist Jody Orsborn. They play their first gig at London’s Moth Club on April 29.
3Lez Zeppelin

New York’s Lez Zeppelin have been paying female-led tribute to Led Zeppelin since 2004. Touring the world and replicating entire Led Zep albums, they are all kinds of amazing and we bow down at their greatness.
4Mistress of Reality

Since Black Sabbath have finally decided to call it quits, excellent tribute act Mistress of Reality is your only chance to hear the iconic metal act’s songs live.
5Ramonas

The Ramonas are the UK’s answer to everyone’s favourite New York City street punks, the Ramones. Say hello to Cloey, Pee Pee, Cammy and Rohnny, who’ve also released original material, in the shape of their ‘Speak Up’ album.
6The Iron Maidens

Based in Los Angeles, Iron Maiden tribute act The Iron Maidens are fronted by ‘Bruce Chickinson’ and have released three albums to date. Actual Bruce Dickinson saw them play in 2015, and commented: “I’ve seen the Iron Maidens in Mexico. We all went. We were watching them and I said to Steve [Harris], ‘This is a really weird question, but looking at them, would you fuck yourself?’ And he went, ‘I don’t know, but we’ve all been thinking it.’ It was very, very weird.” Stay classy, Bruce.
7Misstallica

Misstallica comes from the women who bought you King Diamond tribute act Queen Diamond and since 2008 have been raising merry hell by thrashing out tracks from the first four Metallica albums.
8Joanne Joanne

London Duran Duran tribute only play tracks from the bands 1981/82 period, so no ‘Rio’, soz. “Collectively – and with tongues firmly in their cheek – Joanne Joanne inhabit the recent memory of the time,” say the band. “The early days at the Rum Runner, Le Bon’s summer on an Israeli Kibbutz in ‘79, that ‘81 Old Grey Whistle Test appearance – all are referenced in onstage banter… It’s a lot of fun.”
9Vag Halen

Van Halen tribute act Vag Halen say it best themselves. “Toronto’s feminist art rock band is bringin’ the bad with a dash of ass. Armed with a repertoire of classics, Vag muff dives into the salty cock rock waters, blowing nether regions with their commitment to all things queer and all things rock.”
