Though Halloween 2016 doesn’t fall until October 31, it’s never too early to start thinking about costume ideas. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with going as a cat or a vampire or a witch/wizard, but the internet is already throwing up some more topical and pop culture-centric suggestions. Here’s a selection of our favourites Halloween costume ideas so far.
Why not dress as 2016’s ultimate power couple, Kim and Kanye?
Some people are saying Suicide Squad‘s Harley Quinn feels too obvious this year, but we reckon some people are over-thinking things a bit.
Furiosa and the Wives from Mad Max: Fury Road is a fierce and subtly feminist option.
JK Rowling’s Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them hits cinemas a few weeks after Halloween, so dressing as the film’s hero, Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, would show you have your finger right on the pulse.
Oh, and Marvel’s Luke Cage series launches on Netflix just before Halloween, so he’s a super-topical option too.
Any Star Wars character will go down well at Halloween, but we reckon John Boyega’s Finn and Daisy Ridley’s Rey feel like the coolest choices.
Or if you fancy being a bit more tongue-in-cheek, you could even go as Chewbacca Mom?
If you’re brave enough to shave your head, you’ll slay as Eleven from Stranger Things.
Cult X-Men characters Jubilee and Psylocke are fierce and slightly offbeat options.
With hype building for 2017’s Wonder Woman movie, the iconic comic book character could become this year’s Queen of Halloween.
And since Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie did well at cinemas this summer, dressing as Eddy and Patsy feels fresh again (and you’re sure to have your drink topped up all night).
This “Netflix and Chill” costume is simple but pretty funny.
Seeing as everyone loves an emoji, so why not go as your favourite?
Or even recreate your favourite Snapchat filter IRL?
And finally, if you have a really wicked sense of humour, you could dress up as 2016’s ultimate bad guy…
