Have Yourself A Very Indie Christmas – Free Festive MP3s

Ok so thanks to the X Factor furore and that iffy Julian Casablancas Xmas tune I wasn’t going to do this, but seeing as the NME office has been so Grinch-like this season I changed my mind: here’s a load of indie bands going festive. Hope you like…

First up, my personal favourite of the bunch, Lucky Soul‘s version of the Mud classic ‘Lonely This Christmas’.

Next, Slow Club, who have done a whole EP of yuletide classics. ‘Christmas, Thanks For Nothing’ is out on Moshi Moshi on 14th December and they’re doing a one-off Christmas show next Thursday at London’s Union Chapel with the mesmerising Cate Le Bon.

LA band The Hush, meanwhile, have been giving away their own offering to the Xmas canon, ‘Wishing You A Happy Christmas’.

Finally, Sheffield band The Crookes are giving away a free track every day in the run up to Christmas, featuring some of the city’s famous fathers (Richard Hawley and the omnipresent Jon McClure among them). In typical advent calendar style, there’s a new door opening on their website every day fom Sunday – this is the first one.

Oh, and Diplo‘s done Carol Of The Bells, complete with smutty use of jingle bells, at his Mad Decent blog.
