Hear Pete Doherty’s New Single ‘The World Is Our Playground’ – It’s Classic Pete

This year’s installment of Record Store Day is upon us today (April 16) and one release at the top of the shopping lists for many crate-diggers will be Pete Doherty‘s new single ‘The World Is Our Playground’, out as a limited edition 12″ vinyl especially to mark the occasion.

If you’ve not managed to nab the record yet, here’s an online stream of the track, which is expected to feature on Doherty’s upcoming solo album and is an update of an old bootleg. It’s quite frankly (and literally) classic Pete: innocence and bawdiness (“A little, little fire off your chimney spark / And I knew that I would never / See you naked again”) all mixed together, set to a rootsy, acoustic backdrop. Listen below.

The single is limited to just 1,200 worldwide and is a split release with James Johnson on the other side.

It was reported earlier this year that Doherty’s new album has the working title ‘Flags Of The Old Regime’, the name of an Amy Winehouse tribute single Doherty released in 2015.

Pete Doherty will play the following live dates:

Bristol, Academy (May 11)
Glasgow, Barrowland (May 13)
Aberdeen, Garage (May 14)
Newcastle, Riverside (May 16)
Manchester, Albert Hall (May 17)
London, Hackney Empire (May 19-20)
