Did This Line In Game Of Thrones Hint At A Grizzly Future For Sansa?

Spoiler alert – do not read on if you have not seen season six, episode nine of Game of Thrones

One of the most bitterly satisfying scenes of Battle of the Bastards was Sansa’s way of dealing with Ramsay Bolton, her abusive captor: to tell him he would be forgotten and then leave him alone with his own starved hounds. So it’s pretty unfortunate that some fans have taken one of his final lines of dialogue to mean that she could be pregnant with his child.

“I’m part of you now”, he told her from his cell just before he died. Fans who believe Sansa is pregnant cite this piece of dialogue, along with another scene from season six. When Sansa meets Littlefinger in Mole’s Town, she tells him, “I can still feel it – I don’t mean in my tender heart it still pains me so. I can still feel what he did in my body standing here right now.”

It would put new kinds of pressure on Sansa if she is pregnant – but it’s hard to see how that would really improve the Game of Thrones narrative. Then there’s the fact that abortions exist in Westeros – there’s a thing called Moon Tea that Cersei has mentioned before.

Surely Ramsay is talking about the lasting trauma he has left Sansa with – the way his terrible treatment of her has altered her character. And if you really think about it logistically, too, Sansa would be showing by now if she was pregnant, because it’s probably been a few months since she left Winterfell.

What do you reckon: is Sansa pregnant with Ramsay’s child?
