Pick up this week’s NME to read more about Jack’s favourite records.
A record by a hero…
Nick Drake – Pink Moon
“I always find it really interesting that he started off with high production and then ended with ‘Pink Moon’, an incredibly sparse and quite a painful record as well.”

My karaoke song…
Talking Heads – This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)
“I know all the lyrics to it, so I’d be able to really go for it. I’d pull out every move I can do – I’d probably try to do the worm at some point.”
A tearjerker…
The Band – It Makes No Difference
“I got obsessed with the film ‘The Last Waltz’, which is a Martin Scorsese rockumentary about The Band’s last gig. I think it’s actually the best song in the film. It’s sung mostly by Rick Danko who’s the bassist and he has this really expressive voice and it sounds like he’s almost crying during singing it. I think its just about missing someone and again, it’s a really naïve song, but I’m a sucker for those.”
Before I die I’d play…
Sam Cooke – A Change Is Gonna Come
“It’s such a spiritual song, it’s obviously incredibly gospel and I find his voice the most angelic and soothing voice, more than any other soul singer.”
I wish I’d written…
Jeff Buckley – Lover, You Should’ve Come Over
“I do get some people wondering why I like him, because he’s pretty sentimental, but he’s one of those people that I fell in love with when I was a teenager and it’s pretty hard to shake them off once they’ve got that part of your life.”
