Continuing NME.COM’s 15th birthday series…
My favourite album of NME.COM’s lifetime? ‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill’, which was her debut solo album, and came out in 1998.
I have a really clear memory of listening to it while walking to school, aged 12. I loved songs like ‘Everything Is Everything’ and ‘Ex-Factor’.
I thought, ‘This is what I want to do with my life. I want to write songs like that, songs that everyone can relate to’. More than any other album, ‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill’ is what made me want to become a songwriter.
