La Roux Drops By The NME Office

Another week, another pop star swinging by the Blue Fin Building. Yesterday it was the turn of The Red-Haired One, aka June Ackland from The Bill’s daughter, aka Elly Jackson, aka La Roux.

She was here to talk to NME Radio‘s Chris Martin and perform an exclusive version of her Number Two single ‘In For The Kill’ for NME.COM.

As we waited in the basement for things to kick off news came through that her next single, ‘Quicksand’, has just had a play on Radio 1 and is getting “a positive response”. Elly then went on to tell me about how Sara Cox had slagged her track off once on air and how she cornered her at London’s YOYO club to ask why. Eek – you don’t mess with the Roux.

I chatted to her about Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz keeping her track off the top spot (maybe she needs one of those hats), the Little Boots rivalry and what’s she’s got planned for the Samsung NME Radar Tour, which kicks off tomorrow…

Head to the Samsung NME Radar Tour section for full details of the tour – with Magistrates, Heartbreak and The Chapman Family – including artist profiles, interviews, photos and how to get tickets. See you there…
