This Star Wars question has gone unanswered for 35 years

What exactly was Luke's plan?

Star Wars fans – who, it seems, may have a little too much free time on their hands – have gone berserk on Twitter after realising that part of the storyline in Return of the Jedi has gone unexplained for 35 years.

The Twittersphere went into meltdown after Mike Ryan, a senior entertainment writer at US-based Uproxx, wrote an article in which he challenged fans to tell him what Luke’s plan to rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt actually was.

Ryan then goes on to outline Luke’s numerous attempts to save Han and how it becomes unclear what his original plan to save the captain of the Millennium Falcon – if he even had one – was.

Fans on Twitter praised Ryan for writing about this age-old question in the Star Wars sequel. And, judging by their tweets, it looks like some of them have been kept up at night by this continuing mystery. “Been bugging me for 30 years,” wrote one.

Other fans, meanwhile, attempted their own explanations regarding Luke’s pursuits to save Han from Jabba:

So, what do you reckon Luke’s plan was – if there even was one? Scroll down to leave us a comment.
