MATT and KIM – Daylight – Free MP3

We first discovered MATT and KIM, not to be confused with Kath and Kim, (although a collaboration would probably be the greatest thing since Andy Samberg met T-Pain), when we clicked on their video for single ‘Lessons Learned’.

After sitting through the 3 minutes and 43 seconds of mouse shaking, taskbar locking shock, our mind was made up. Any band that has the gumption to wear American Apparel pants and walk through Time Square slowly removing every item of clothing, surrounded by grey tourists and over zealous cops, deserves our full attention.

Hailing from Brooklyn, MATT and KIM started playing together in 2004 after meeting at the Pratt Institute. In the five years since forming they’ve built up a cult following drumming at warehouse parties and filming messily bloody videos that were often deemed too violent for America. Europe has a stronger stomach it seems.

‘Daylight’ is a track from their second album, ‘Grand’, which is set for release on June 22nd. The dancefloor filling opus was recorded in the wilds of Vermont, the pair setting up camp in Matt’s parents’ house, with only three cow pastures to distract them.

The album is self-production at its best – energetic, inventive and mildly destructive (we’ve already begun filling out the application form to be in their next video). Fingers crossed that the nudity and police fondling is optional.
