After an extended festive break and our round-up posts last week The Daily Download is back back back with a vengeance for 2010. We’re making a few changes to the blog this year. First up, as there’s so much great music flooding in day after day we’re going to host more than one track a day, alongside recommendations for the best downloads elsewhere on the web. We’ll also be posting round-ups based around genres, themes and places as well as video exclusives, interviews and more. So make sure you subscribe to the blog to keep up with it all.
Who better to get us started than Memory Tapes, whose track ‘Bicycle’ (which you can get here) was one of the tracks of 2009? ‘Easy Pert Mom’ is the b-side to forthcoming single ‘Graphics’. The band play Manchester’s Corner on Saturday and two London dates next week.

Fans of all things kraut/noise/space-rocky, meanwhile, need to download this seven minute taster from New York’s White Hills. The band recorded their new self-titled album (out Feb 1st) at Oneida’s studio in Williamsburg with Kid Millions from their host’s band on drums. Judging by this it’ll be a no-brainer.
Next, our old friend Alex Metric (whose remixes of Bloc Party and Ladyhawke we gave away last year) is all over the forthcoming series of Skins, which will mean A) he’ll be massive by March and B) you’ll be hearing a lot of this over the coming months:
